A New Approximation Algorithm for Computing 2-Restricted Disjoint Paths

چکیده
In this paper we study the problem of how to identify multiple disjoint paths that have the minimum total cost OPT and satisfy a delay bound D in a graph G. This problem has lots of applications in networking such as fault-tolerant quality of service (QoS) routing and network-flow load balancing. Recently, several approximation algorithms have been developed for this problem. Here, we propose a new approximation algorithm for it by using the Lagrangian Relaxation method. We then present a simple approximation algorithm for finding multiple link-disjoint paths that satisfy the delay constraints at a reasonable total cost. If the optimal solution under delay-bound D has a cost OPT , then our algorithm can find a solution whose delay is bounded by (1+ 1 k )D and the cost is no more than (1+k)OPT . The time complexity of our algorithm is much better than the previous algorithms. key words: Approximation Algorithms, Fault-Tolerant Routing, Disjoint Paths, Lagrangian Relaxation

Efficient Approximation Algorithms for Computing \emph{k} Disjoint Restricted Shortest Paths
Network applications, such as multimedia streaming and video conferencing, impose growing requirements over Quality of Service (QoS), including bandwidth, delay, jitter, etc. Meanwhile, networks are expected to be load-balanced, energyefficient, and resilient to some degree of failures. It is observed that the above requirements could be better met with multiple disjoint QoS paths than a single...
متن کاملComplexity and Approximation Results for the Min-Sum and Min-Max Disjoint Paths Problems
Given a graph G = (V,E) and k source-sink pairs {(s1, t1), . . . , (sk, tk)} with each si, ti ∈ V , the Min-Sum Disjoint Paths problem asks to find k disjoint paths connecting all the source-sink pairs with minimized total length, while the Min-Max Disjoint Paths problem asks for k disjoint paths connecting all the sourcesink pairs with minimized length of the longest path. We show that the wei...
متن کاملCuts and Disjoint Paths in the Valley-Free Path Model of Internet BGP Routing
In the valley-free path model, a path in a given directed graph is valid if it consists of a sequence of forward edges followed by a sequence of backward edges. This model is motivated by BGP routing policies of autonomous systems in the Internet. Robustness considerations lead to the problem of computing a maximum number of disjoint paths between two nodes, and the minimum size of a cut that s...
